Mt TABOR (8 miles)
Picture yourself riding into a 1930’s Arts & Crafts Postcard! This is one of Portland’s most beautiful rides to Portland’s most beautiful park! On a clear day, the 636 foot summit provides panoramic views of Portland downtown, Mt Hood and Mt Adams.
The ride from the shop couldn’t be easier. Out the front door, cross Hawthorne in front of the shop, ride down 20th street (sidewalk or street, rider’s choice) and take a left at Harrison Street. At 30th Street, Harrison becomes Lincoln (we don’t make any turns. It just….becomes) and we continue riding past 60th Street until we see the “can’t miss” left into Mt. Tabor Park. There are lots of walking, bike and car paths. We like the non-car route, so we ride through the gate gap, take and immediate (steep!!!) right turn and -well- we’re on our way to the summit where we’ll find picnickers, folks with dogs, tourists and bikes…lots of bikes! We can spend a whole afternoon riding through Tabor (which is a great way to spend a test ride!!).
